Atmaram Bawa’s Shree Ram Mandir is popularly known as Kalaram Mandir.
It was founded nearly two hundred years ago.
Atmaram Bawa, a devoted member of the Ramdasi Sampradaya of Shirgaon Math, made significant contributions to the construction of temples in various locations, including Sawantwadi, Goa, and Ahmedabad.
In 1828, he arrived in Mumbai and, with the support of his disciples, particularly those from the Pathare Prabhu Community, acquired land on Thakurdwar (now known as J.S.S Road). There, he built Sri Ram Mandir, which was established on Bhadrapada Shukla 12, Shaka 1750, equivalent to September 20, 1828, featuring Shri Ram Panchayatan.
In 1870, Shri Krishnath Thakurdas Buwa placed the Padukas (sacred sandals) given to him by Shri Swami Samarth Maharaj at a location now known as Dutt Mandir. The temple also houses the idols of Durga Devi, Vithoba Rakhumai, Lord Ganesha, and a Shivalinga.
